ONCE AGAIN

 Your love was as close to me as my skin

And you were grasping to take hold of it

But like the snow in the warm spring

It fell from your grip

Because I didn’t see your sincerity

I didn’t see what was in your soul

I wish I’d known if you really wanted me

Or if it is now too late for you and I

If I had only known how deep your love was

Now! now I could just be fooling myself

By thinking you would ever come back

I lost in the dust of life

A love that could’ve been mine

You my kitten and I your lion

Together we would be our own union

Instead we’re like jesters wandering aimlessly

Still looking for a better way to live and to love

The world around us only serves to corrupt us

Making blurry our visions of what’s good for us

And as a result, we add another story to a list

That will be forgotten as easily as

The names of passing strangers

But should you ever spot me and wish to talk

Come once again and take hold of my hand

Let us once again embrace one another

Let us once again share a moment

And maybe even take another chance
